Bicycle Inter-Community Action and Salvage

I suppose the name says it all! This was an impromptu visit to BICAS in Tucson, AZ. They have a similar model to Bikes Not Bombs in Boston.

Interesting turn from the usual videos.
Though I would like to hear more from you how this ties closer with the groups you have been doing so far.

How do you connect “BICAS” with the sustainable movement?

    How are they different?

Just some questions I was asking as I was watching.

But all in all, I like it, and it’s a good relief from all the seriousness.

nice short sweet. Connection to sustainability almost implied. Would have liked to hear from more people, on more topics.

Yes! I love the shots of this place, reminds me a bit of the rebuilding center in Portland, OR.

How is this connected with the sustainability movement? Oh, let me count the ways… bikes are low-tech high-performance way to tackle the transportation dilemmas and avoid the use of fossile fuels and the creation of excess pollution, especially when there is a focus on recycling all the parts even when they’ve outlived their original utility. for one… Of course community-building is key to this movement, as is taking initiative and learning how to sustain yourself, and your lifestyle. I guess that’s pretty obvious seeing as I just used the vocabulary from the original question. Empowerment, knowledge, creativity… yes, awesome.

    yeah um
bikes don’t use fuel-except the food you ate for breakfast.
i think that’s a pretty obvious reason to cover this topic. i thought your text in the video covered that pretty well: Recycling, Art, Community.
this is a lot like Bike Kitchen in SF. very cool.
and the compression looks super sweet in this one!!
