My friend Andrea Davis is working as a “forager” for the General’s Daughter, a restaurant in Sonoma, California. She grows herbs and tomatoes for the restaurant’s use, as well as “forages” for specialty foods at the farmer’s market in town.

We also spoke with the Chef, Preston Dishman, who illustrated the benefits of cooking and eating local food.

Here is an article on another California “forager”:

what a cool job! i just finished reading the article too. that was a good supplement. i didnt realize that someone’s job would be to just traverse the forest for mushrooms. does your friend do that too?…that’s so interesting.

Yet again, a great idea. Thanks for bringing it to light! Speaking of light, beware bright windows :S

When you’re going for static shots, try putting your camera’s automatic exposure and white balance settings into manual mode.

cool. it’d be great to see more people reclaim public space and plant fruit & veges. like those adopt a highway projects, you could adopt a traffic island and plant something to eat and stop and water it etc ;)

in parts of NZ they have a 50mile diet where people only eat food grown within 50miles of where they live. so it’s back to the seasonal food from when we were young instead of food available all round the year.

it’s good that natural food is becoming trendy, it’s probably the only way more resturants will go this way!

    great work
